Webinar số 12: Legal Aspects of Right to Repair
Dear IP Lovers,
Welcome to the webinar on “Legal Aspects of Right to Repair.”
We are thrilled to have you join us for this enlightening discussion on a topic that holds immense significance in the realms of law, sustainability, and consumer rights. Throughout this session, we will delve into the intricate legal landscape surrounding the right to repair, exploring its implications, challenges, and potential solutions.
Our guest speaker is Win Thandar Zaw, a passionate PhD student pursuing her studies at the University of Waikato in New Zealand. With a strong passion for sustainability, her doctoral research area focuses on the legal aspects of the idea of extended producer responsibility (EPR). Her research emphasizes product and waste law as a form of environmental law as well as other areas of law related to the implementation of EPR, including tort, contract, competition, consumer law, and industry-led self-regulation. Thandar completed a Master of Laws with First Class Honours at the University of Waikato in 2021. During her master’s programme, her thesis focused on the “Right to Repair”, exploring the obstacles in current New Zealand’s regulatory framework and how new laws should be designed in New Zealand. Prior to embarking on her graduate studies, Thandar gained valuable professional experience as a junior lawyer for three years, working in reputable international law firms based in Myanmar.
We are also honored to have Đức Anh Trần as our discussant. Anh Đức, an Associate at Tilleke & Gibbins Vietnam, holds an LLM from Queensland University of Technology, Australia. With his extensive knowledge and experience in the legal field, particularly in intellectual property and related areas, he will provide valuable insights and perspectives on the legal intricacies surrounding the right to repair.
The webinar will take place on Saturday, 22nd July 2023, from 3 pm to 4 pm (Vietnam Time).
